The “Petronio Álvarez” Pacific Music Festival, or simply “El Petronio”, is a festival dedicated to the folklore music of the Colombian Pacific or directly related to it. It takes place in the city of Santiago de Cali, Colombia in the month of August. It seeks to highlight composers, musical groups and music researchers of Afro-Colombian origin. It is organized by local institutions related to culture and promoted by the Secretariat of Culture and Tourism of the Mayor’s Office of Santiago de Cali.

Among its modalities are Marimba, Chirimia, libre, unreleased song, vocal performer, marimba performer and clarinet performer. In the last version, violins were added, a practice recently recovered in the Department of Cauca, after this the Afro musical groups follow.
These groups are Folclor de mi Pueblo, winners of the Caucano Violins category; the Matachindé Group from Buenaventura, winner of the Marimba and traditional songs category; the group Aires de mi Tierra, first place in the Flute and Clarinet Chirimía category, and the group La Calle Manigua, winners of the free group category.
These four representatives of the awards held within the framework of the festival that was held in August of last year, will appear on June 1 at 5:00 in the afternoon to show their musical talent and give attendees a opening of the great event. which will be held in the capital of Valle del Cauca.
